Katrece Boyd is the Executive Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (CEED) at North Carolina Central University, where she leads initiatives that drive innovation and economic mobility for students, faculty, staff, and community members. In addition to her work at CEED, Katrece is an ICF-credentialed coach and trained facilitator. She is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Boyd Business Group, LLC, delivering organizational and leadership development services to small and mid-sized enterprises and government agencies.
Previously, she served as a Business Counselor with the Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC), providing personalized management counseling and educational services to help entrepreneurs improve operational efficiency. She served over 12 years in the Financial Service industry as a registered representative, regional director, and consultant before transitioning into academia and economic development. She is actively engaged in community work dedicated to advancing the economic mobility of under-resourced communities, including NC IDEA’s Black Entrepreneurship Council, Carolina Community Impact, Inc.’s Advisory Board, Habitat for Humanity’s Advocacy Committee, and acting as an Executive Champion with The Climb. Katrece holds a Bachelor of Science in Sales and Marketing from Tuskegee University and is an EMBA Candidate.
Katrece’s motivation for her work is simple: she loves people and desires to see them thrive.
Public Relations Manager from Universal Chevrolet, Carlie Rye is a Professional Speaker, Business Consultant, and former morning radio personality. She’s worked with hundreds of local businesses, and organizations. Her favorite motto “you don’t know, what you don’t know.” She will share different ways to get your name in front of people, what she has seen work well for others, and a few secrets of the trade when it comes to promoting and branding yourself.

Caitlin Gooch, also known as “The Black Cowgirl,” is the founder of Saddle Up and Read, an innovative initiative launched in 2016 aimed at promoting youth literacy through the unique bond between people and horses. Since its inception, over 1,000 children have engaged in Saddle Up and Read events, where Caitlin combines her passion for riding and equine advocacy to inspire the next generation. In her approach, Caitlin brings her horses to schools, neighborhoods, and community events—fostering a love for literature alongside equestrian skills.
Caitlin has collaborated with numerous brands to amplify her message and reach. In addition to her work with Saddle Up and Read, she hosted the podcast “The Story Stables” produced by WUNC, featuring her mini horse, Man Man. Her dedication to community service has earned her numerous accolades, including induction into the Wake County Public School System Hall of Fame and a Humane Award from the ASPCA for her efforts in equine welfare. Most recently, she was honored with the ETHOS Award for her impactful contributions to the equestrian community and beyond. Her mantra through it all is, “Spread love y'all.”
