A Message from Andi Curtis from WakeMed Health and Hospitals:
I wanted to share this exciting news with you about some positive, national, media attention Wake County and WakeMed will get tonight.
WakeMed’s drone medical delivery project will be featured in a segment on NBC Nightly News (WRAL, Channel 5) at 6:30 pm tonight.
The drone project is part of WakeMed Innovations. Click here for WakeMed Innovations, a new department focused exclusively on connecting partners, employees and providers with the tools and resources needed to move creative, innovative ideas from conception to reality. Innovation is one of WakeMed’s Aspirational goals; to achieve transformative improvements in health care and health care delivery.
About the drone project: Federal Aviation Admin’s Unmanned Aircraft System Integration Pilot Program: Speeding deliveries, enhancing access to care and creating healthier communities. In partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, drone companies and traffic management companies, WakeMed is one of only two health care systems in the United States testing long-range medical package delivery using drones.

I hope you’ll take a minute to tune in tonight and learn more about our program.
As always, thank you for all you do in the community. Your work, support and encouragement is vital to fostering an environment where hospital systems can create the most innovative, forward-thinking healthcare delivery tools and programs for the benefit of our patients.
