Transitions LifeCare Announces Staff Additions

Transitions LifeCare announces the addition of an executive team member and three full-time physicians: Nicole Martin, MBA, BSN, RN, CHPN, CHC as vice president of quality and compliance/chief compliance officer and Joshua Dowd, MD, Rachel Lipner, DO, and Sophia Paraschos, MD as hospice and palliative medicine physicians.
 
Mrs. Martin is responsible for the overall management of corporate compliance and performance improvement. She ensures Transitions LifeCare continues to meet standards and maintain Medicare, Medicaid, state, and federal requirements. Nicole earned her MBA and BSN at Western Governors University and is certified in hospice and palliative care and healthcare compliance.

Dr. Dowd joins Transitions LifeCare’s inpatient palliative care consult team where he will cover WakeMed Raleigh and WakeMed Cary hospitals. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine, completed residency in internal medicine at the University of Michigan, Michigan Medicine Hospitals and Health Centers, and fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at UNC.

Dr. Lipner provides care on the hospital-based palliative medicine consult services and also serves as a hospice team physician. She earned her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed residency in internal medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network, and fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at UNC.

Dr. Paraschos provides care in hospice and palliative medicine at WakeMed, in Transitions LifeCare’s hospice home, and as the Transitions Kids team physician. She earned her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, completed a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of North Carolina (UNC), and fellowship in adult and pediatric palliative care at UNC.
