Steel Magnolia Garden Club | Blue Star Memorial
Blue Star Memorial
The Steel Magnolias Garden Club recently received permission from the Zebulon Board of Commissioners to erect a Blue Star Memorial on the grounds of the town hall. They are beginning the campaign to raise funds for the memorial and landscaping for the site.
Site plan designed by Steve Burge, Burge Landscapes
The Memorial will read, “A tribute to the Armed Forces who have defended the United States of America.” Presented by the Steel Magnolias Garden Club and the Citizens of Zebulon.
The Blue Star Memorial was founded in 1944 to honor WWII service members and based on the blue flag placed in the windows of families or businesses with a family member in service. In 1951 the mission was enlarged to honor all men and women who had served, were serving or would serve in the Armed Forces of the United States.
Individuals, businesses and civic organizations can help by donating funds for the purchase of the Blue Star memorial, plants, benches and other materials for the site. Donations may be made in honor of a veteran or an active service member.
If you are interested in donating or would like anymore information contact Betty Wagner at 919-269-0138 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
