Former ZCOC Executive Director, Kim Valentine, will be the Wilson Active Artist Association's featured Artist with an opening reception on Thursday, July 16. There will be many talented artists' work on display. You won't be disappointed!

Kim's series for this exhibit is entitled Abandoned. Since moving to North Carolina 9 years ago Kim has been fascinated by the sadness and tremendous beauty of abandoned structures. 

"These houses, barns and objects have been left to deteriorate due to the passage of time and the elements. I find myself wondering about them. Who lived there? Where are they now? Why did they just walk away?"

Kim attempts to capture their beauty in her work. Her paintings are based on photographs from local photographers, Scott Garlock and Cindy Privette. Some of the photos she took herself.
